The Propaganda Of China

The Little Red Book's Power

Perhaps the greatest example of propaganda is demonstrated by Mao's quotations, also known as the Little Red Book. This book was given to all citizens of China once Mao gained power. The Little Red Book was almost equivalent to the Bible to many Chinese peasants. Even though the book had so much power, the quotes within the book made very little sense and was very difficult to comprehend. Simply stating a quote from the book could get you out of many situations, simply because even authorities did not get the complete meaning.

As you can see in the video above, Mao held great influence and everyone in the crowd of people held the Little Red Book in their hands.
